HEAVEN
(J Christie)
Heaven
Is a fantasy we cling to, an illusion
A mirage in the desert
A comfort zone
Shimmering, and glimmering
It holds you in its spell
Promising you water from the well
Bathed in eternal light
Free from the darkest night
I don't believe it, don't believe it
Heaven
Is a concept of a magical utopia
A voice cries from the wilderness
"It's better here"
And even though you know it's just a dream
It's so intangible, this paradise
But all we need to know
And need to hear
Heaven
How I wish that I could still believe in Heaven
And life can be a long and lonely journey
On and on, with no respite
We climb these mountains day and night
And still these tears on stony ground will fall
It's easy to understand
Redemption is close at hand
I don't believe it
Heaven
Is a place that lives in your imagination
A fairy tale creation
A benediction
And even though you know, it's just a dream
It's so unreachable
This Shangri-La
What else can we do but still believe
In Heaven
