Man
of Many Faces
Record
Mirror
It's a fairly simply
routined number, but with a good set of lyrics.
There's a shortage of immediate melodic hooks,
but the sheer fact is if you hear it a few times
it becomes immediately commercial.
Very much a solo showcase for Jeff
Christie's voice .. but then he wrote it! It sort
of gallops along - a chart cert.
Music Business
Weekly:
Something of a change for the heavier
on Christie's third single, but sacrificing none
of the instantaneous appeal of Yellow
River and San Bernadino.
Some excellent guitar work, and a pounding, repetitive
chorus. Sure to move.
Sounds:
Another surprise this week
though a nice one is this track from the
once over-jolly band who now turn up sounding
very nicely in check on a good, slightly dark
little song by Jeff Christie. It's rather attractive
with a nicely chopped-up rhythym.
Melody Maker:
Another Jeff Christie song which
should make a good follow-up to Yellow
River and San Bernadino.
Particularly interesting is the bass guitar which
reminds me of the work of Chris Squire.

New
Musical Express:
This is Christie's follow-up to their
two previous hits, Yellow
River and San Bernadino,
and shows a marked development from the early
country influence through to the much harder rock
sound of their latest release.
It's again written by group leader
Jeff Christie and features strident, punchy guitars
which strengthen the easily remembered melody
and lyric. There's nothing pretentious about it.
It's just competent pop and a record that can
make you feel good to listen to.
