CHRISTIE are going back to school! The group, at No 6 with San Bernadino, will play a special charity concert at Leeds Grammar School, where Jeff Christie was once a pupil.
Date set is December 18, followed the next night by a booking at Scunthorpe Baths Hall.
Christie recently returned from a three-week tour of South America, where they collected a gold disc for sales of their first hit Yellow River in Brazil. This week they were doing German TV, followed by a six-day Irish tour. They visit Italy for 17 days from November 26.
On New Years Eve the group tops the bill of a special show in Stockholm, then after further dates in Germany in January, they return to South America.
A six-week US college tour is being arranged for March/April. Also lined up are visits to Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Israel before next summer.
A spokesman said British bookings for Christie were few and far between simply because they were in such demand elsewhere in the world after the success of Yellow River.
It was No 1 in 26 countries and total sales have topped two and a quarter million.

CHRISTIE have been asked to appear in and write the complete score for a new Italian film which has just finished production.
Says manager Brian Longley: “We don’t even know what the film’s called yet, but the group has been asked to write the score and also appear in a scene singing Yellow River.”
If the offer is accepted, Christie will go to Rome next month to see the film and then fly on to Venice to appear at the Venice festival.

Note: Unfortunately, the film fell through.
